This event will be held from noon-2 p.m. in the cafeteria in the Student Center on campus, 11333 Big Bend Road.
Students, faculty and staff are invited to celebrate with free food, including St. Louis staples like Gus’ Pretzels, toasted ravioli and gooey butter cake. Local attractions such as the Missouri Botanical Garden, St. Louis Science Center and St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, also will have information booths.
The Meramec SAC is a student-led group that works to plan and execute free, engaging events for the student body. The idea for 314 Day, playing off of the region’s area code, came from Amber Grant, SAC staff adviser. From there, the students ran with the idea, researching area attractions and businesses and then reaching out to invite them to the event.
“As a team, we worked to reach out to businesses and together, we accomplished the task and got some awesome responses,” said Najda Moalla, SAC member.
The SAC is looking forward to making this an annual event.
Other upcoming SAC events include a tailgate for spring athletics and the Cardinals’ home opener on Thursday, April 4; a Live at Lunch performance from Josh McVicar on Friday, April 19; and the annual Grad Fest food truck event on Wednesday, May 1.
