Judy Bear has been selected as the 2016 recipient of the Faculty to Faculty Award at St. Louis Community College-Wildwood.
This annual award is presented to adjunct faculty members who demonstrate excellence in teaching and support of student success. Recipients are chosen by a committee and are recognized at the start of the spring semester.
“I am very appreciative of this award and want everyone to know how much I enjoy teaching at St. Louis Community College-Wildwood,” Bear said. “I truly believe that education is the key to unlocking future success in life, and I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to share my passion for teaching each day.”
Prior to teaching at STLCC, Bear served as an elementary school teacher in the Rockwood School District. In 2006, she joined the college as an adjunct instructor. Over the years, she has taught reading and college orientation courses, as well as courses within the field of education. Outside of the classroom, she has organized numerous food drives on campus in support of Rockwood School District’s “Got Your Backpack” program, which provides food to homeless children each weekend.
“Judy is an enthusiastic educator with a deep commitment to helping students succeed,” said Mike Dreith, Ed.D., Wildwood’s associate provost, in remarks at the recent award presentation ceremony.
Bear holds a master’s degree plus 30 hours in education from Maryville University.
