Michael Dreith, Ed.D., has been selected to serve as the associate provost for St. Louis Community’s Wildwood campus. He will begin his duties July 6.
Dreith was born and raised near St. Louis in Illinois, and established his career in print and broadcast journalism. In 1986, he joined the faculty at Lewis and Clark Community College, teaching radio, public speaking and humanities.
In 2001, Dreith was named president of Frontier Community College (Fairfield, Ill.), thereby becoming the first Illinois community college graduate to become president of an Illinois community college. In 2007, he served as president of Western Texas College (Snyder, Texas). He was named president of John A. Logan College in May 2012.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in workforce education from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, a master’s degree in media communications from Webster University, and a doctorate in higher education from Nova Southeastern University. He was twice elected as the president of the Lewis and Clark Faculty Association.
Dreith is an avid photographer, loves Cardinal baseball and college basketball. He is a Paul Harris Fellow and has been the president of three different Rotary Clubs. This spring, he completed certification to serve as a coach, mentor and public speaker by the John Maxwell Team.
