The St. Louis Community College Adult Education and Literacy program has received the Missouri Adult Education and Literacy High Quality Award for fiscal year 2014.
Sponsored by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, the award recognizes local programs that achieve outstanding student outcomes while maintaining a high degree of fiscal integrity.
STLCC’s program received top scores in all areas, including student outcomes, educational progression, cost per student, and ratio of dollars spent to numbers of students served.
This is especially noteworthy as 2014 was the year Missouri transitioned from using the GED to the HiSet as the test for high school equivalency.
Karl Steenberg, program director, accepted the award at the Adult Education and Literacy Directors Conference at the Lake of the Ozarks in May. The program is operated by the Department of Continuing Education.
